We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Trust & Estate Paralegal to support their growing Trusts and Estates Department in our Rochester office. Position Summary:
The Trust & Estate Paralegal will play a critical role in supporting attorneys with all aspects of estate and trust administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, organized, and collaborative legal professional with a strong background in trusts and estates.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in all phases of estate and trust administration

Prepare pleadings for court filings to initiate estate proceedings and judicial settlements

Maintain and monitor the administration of assigned estates and trusts
-
Track and manage estate and trust accounts, including payment of expenses
-
Prepare federal and New York State estate tax returns
-
Marshal and transfer estate and trust assets
-
Collect and organize information for fiduciary income tax return preparation

Prepare estate/trust judicial accountings
-
eFile documents in various counties
-
Draft correspondence and documents for attorney review

Coordinate with court administration and regulatory agencies as needed

Support attorneys with investigations and fact gathering

Meet annual billable hour requirements set by the firm

Perform additional tasks and projects as needed in support of the Trusts & Estates Department
Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 2 years'experience in trusts and estates, probate, or related legal field in a law firm or in-house legal setting (Required)

Educational background: Paralegal Certificate, Associate's degree with relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Tax
-
Strong understanding of trust and estate processes and legal procedures

Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently

Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Analytical thinker with sound problem-solving abilities
-
Familiarity with tax and estate administration software and bookkeeping (a plus)

Experience with judicial accounting and fiduciary income tax return preparation (preferred)
Salary & Additional Information:

Salary Range: $65, 000 –$75, 000, commensurate with experience
