Staff Accountant, Amherst, NY, - 5 full days in office

Our client, a local non-profit that is sustained through private donations, grants from foundations, and grassroots funding is adding a Staff Accountant to their small team.

The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the organization's financial records. This position is responsible for reviewing general ledger transactions, preparing and ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting compliance with accounting principles and organizational policies. In addition to reviewing and processing accounts receivable/payables, they assist in providing financial services to partner agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

General Ledger Management:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Prepare journal entries and post transactions in a timely manner.
Review and analyze account balances and resolve discrepancies.
Compliance and Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Assist in the preparation for annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
Collaboration and Communication:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the Senior Finance Manager as requested.
Input monthly Investment statements into the CRM.
Work closely with other departments to ensure financial information is accurately captured.
Respond to inquiries from staff and external parties regarding financial matters.
Special Projects:
Participate in financial system upgrades or implementations as needed.
Assist with special projects related to financial analysis or reporting as directed by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a non-profit environment
Proficiency in financial management software and tools, Excel and QuickBooks a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Meticulous attention to detail, strong eye for nuances

The salary for this role is $55, 000 - 75, 000 per year based on 35 hours worked and 5 hours paid for lunch. This range represents the low and high end of the compensation range for this position. Actual compensation offered will vary based on various details.
