Safety and Human Resources Manager - Buffalo Transportation Company

Our local reputable client has a need for a multi-faceted management position involving duties in HR, Safety, and Quality.

Safety, Quality/Compliance Coordinator duties:

  • Work with management team to insure all safety training is current
  • Document Control and OSHA logs
  • Work with Quality VP to develop and administer all programs including but not limited to GMP’s, SQF, HACCP and AIB as well as any customer audits or correspondence.
  • Responsible for all CAPA, NCR SOP’s and Policy and Procedures
  • Work with the Owner and his designee to address compliance issues as a result of an audit by the insurance Company
  • Weekly safety meetings and facility inspections
  • Responsible for all safety training
  • Document Control and OSHA Logs

Quality Manager duties: 

  • Establish and coordinate quality process from incoming material to final inspection of finished goods
  • Write SOP’s and Job instructions
  • Point of contact with customer for any Corrective Actions Review Program (CAPA) or quality issues
  • Coordinate all internal Corrective Action Review Program (CAPA)

Operations/Human Resources Manager duties:

  • Coordinate all HR functions at the site level including interviews, on boarding of temp and perm hires. Benefit coordinator and payroll administrator as well as day to day production and shipping and receiving operations.

Health and Safety Manager duties:

  • Leadership role in managing all safety policies and procedures and training all employees
  • Responsible for DEC Operating permits and other NYS and Corp compliance programs as well
  • Temp and Perm new hire safety orientation
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual OSHA and other safety training
  • Document Control and OSHA Logs as well as Safety reports and incident management
  • Daily Audits of Production areas to ensure Safety Programs are adhered to
  • Responsible for creation and execution of quality assurance testing procedures and writing procedures,
  • Job instructions for production process
  • Daily Shift Audits
  • Coordinate Corrective Action Review Program (CAPA)
  • Established Production Schedules and
  • Responsible for day to day production operations
  • As management team member worked on marketing and sales strategies
  • Leadership role in managing all safety Policies and Training all Employees
  • Coordinated all Safety Training
  • Daily audits of Production areas to ensure policies and procedures were met
  • Audit samples of product for quality specifications
  • Responsible for all levels of quality control/quality assurance
  • Work closely with trucking departments to maintain standards and regulations for product
  • Leadership role in creation and execution of safety policies and procedures

Joseph Catherine

Recruitment professional since 1970 with disciplines in accounting / finance, construction management and banking, manufacturing, and human resources. He started in the business with AFCO Personnel Services in 1970 and after two years was appointed manager and then managing partner. Joe merged AFCO Personnel Services in 1983 at which time he and Mike DeBellis founded DeBellis & Catherine Associates. Joe attended SUNY at Buffalo studying liberal arts and sociology. He was active with the Niagara Falls & Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, executive committee for the Porter Cup amateur golf tournament and was on the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.  He is currently an active member with the Williamsville Rotary Club.
