This is fantastic rare opportunity for an individual looking to get into a professional role in the safety field.  The largest silicon metal manufacturer in the U.S., is seeking a hands-on Safety Technician for its Selma, AL Plant. The Safety Technician is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures that will improve and maintain a safe workplace through compliance of health, wellness, environmental, and safety laws.
The selected candidate must display excellent attention to detail in order to identify potential hazards and/or dangerous conditions and resolve them. Communicate and interact with employees the importance of working safely and going back home to your family as you came to work. Be creative and proactively discover opportunities for improvements that will assist the Company in the execution of company safety programs. The ability to interpret and clearly communicate OSHA guidelines and administrative rulings is fundamental. The goal is zero accidents and to exceed all industry related requirements related to occupational health and safety standards.

As a daily routine, walk the facility at the beginning and end of the shift to access the workplace.
Communicates daily with employees and management on needs and requirements.
Identify and re-mediate any safety issue(s) discovered and adopt preventive measures.
Displays a keen awareness of knowledge of safety, environmental and health issues.
Monitors compliance and safety laws and procedures.
Identifies and recommends solutions to safety issues and adoption of preventive initiatives.
Assists the Safety Manager in accident investigations and corrective action measures
Works on safety related projects of limited complexity in a support role

Associate’s Degree preferably in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Mgmt. or relevant experience.
Communicates clearly and objectively both verbally and in writing
Solid understanding of safety, environmental, health issues, laws and OSHA regulations
Able to complete tasks assigned by management in a timely manner
Good organizational and coaching skills
Exceptional attention to detail and acts proactively
