Medical Assistant: South towns area
Our client, a growing and reputable medical group is in need of a Medical Assistant for one of their south towns area practices.

The Medical Assistant prepares patients to see provider (but does not order) lab or diagnostic tests and related paperwork, assists the nurses or practitioners with clinical duties; may be requested to review charts of scheduled patients to determine quality measures, greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, prepares patients for exam or treatment by taking vital signs and recording information, prepares exam and treatment rooms, checks exam room supplies, performs spirometry, EKG, typanogram, audiometry, application of Holter Monitor, use of glucometer and pulse oximetry.

Responsibilities:
" Basic anatomy and disease processes.
" Familiarity with drug formularies and use of prescribed medications.
" Ability to assess workflow and room patients to assist provider in achieving maximum efficiency.
" Understanding of basic lab values.
" Understanding of quality assurance measures.
" General familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT coding.
" Ability to use computerized triage function in handling incoming phone calls and provider instructions.
" Understanding of document and completion of nursing notes with EMR system.
" Understanding of proper standards of documentation for medications and nursing notes and initiation of orders for lab and diagnostic testing.
" Confidentiality abiding by HIPAA confidentiality rules and confidentiality guidelines in employee handbook.
" Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for disposing of contaminated materials
" Medical Records: Following established protocol for chart and electronic medical records formats, accurate documentationQualifications: of messages, medications, vitals, allergies, and patient history following guidelines of physician.
" Scheduling patient appointments

Qualifications:
" High School diploma, with certification for medical assistants at accredited academic facility highly preferred
" Can perform with proficiency diagnostic procedures on checklist
" Ability to carry out diagnostic testing as noted above
" Ability to follow instructions of physician and/or nurse supervisor
" Ability to relate instructions of physician supervisor to patients in a clear and understandable manner
" General computer literacy with ability to enter medications, vitals, allergies, histories and other medical data in computerized office
" Accurate computer input of patient clinical data
" Ability to retrieve computerized medical record information
" Ability to assist patients with wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and oxygen equipment
" Familiarity with sterilization procedures utilizing autoclave
