The Controls  Engineer will program and modify new an existing PLC/HMI programs for installation and support of the plant process, packaging and process equipment.  This position requires providing system documentation and process descriptions to define control system requirements typically encompassing PLC' s, VFD' s, HMI' s, Control Networks and other typical interface devices.  This individual must be able to independently perform these tasks for small projects and provide technical direction and leadership to a project team for larger projects.  They will also need to interface with vendors and support personnel with design, startup and commissioning of projects.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and Program Rockwell and GE PLC' s
  • Troubleshoot and Program Rockwell and GE HMI' s
  • Troubleshoot and program Rockwell and Yaskawa VFD' s
  • Assist in training maintenance personnel
  • Control System hardware and software design
  • Auto Cad control schematic preparation
  • Create and maintain process and instrumentation drawings
  • Create budgets for capital projects
  • Design, configure and maintain Industrial Communications Networks
  • Configure new and maintain existing virtual machines and virtual servers
  • Install and maintain programming support software for PLC and HMI programming
  • Maintenance of plant historical data collection systems and interfacing that data with plant OEE/MES systems
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be proficient in configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows based PC' s/Laptops and networks
  • Candidate must have a strong ability to learn new systems and processes as required by future plant and project needs
  • Direct control system experience in all aspects of design and support of PLC/HMI based systems
25 % travel within NYS. - must be flexible on working OT as needed for project completion and deadlines.
