Job Description
A specialty chemical manufacturer is seeking an experienced corporate controller with a strong record of establishing financial and operational controls, closing the books, and implementing accounting processes and procedures. Reporting to theCFO, the Controller will be responsible for leading the day-to-day aspects of the accounting function and own the monthly close process. The controller will assist the CFO with budgeting/forecasting, sales tax, and other key corporate initiatives to improve processes, procedures, and controls across the business. The right candidate must possess solid knowledge of accounting principles related to the manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly close process, including booking journal entries and reconciling account balances.
- Monitor collection and reporting of sales tax and Nexus reporting requirements for national sales effort.
- Develop analytics to provide insights to sales performance and profitability by segment and product family.
- Assist with integration of add-on acquisitions.
- Assist with the annual audit process and work with auditors to provide requested materials.
- Develop standard rates for bill of materials to ensure proper costing of products.
Qualifications and Experience
- 10+ years of hands on accounting experience.
- Prior controllership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting and financial best practices.
- Ability to own the monthly close process.
- Experience with cost accounting;developing standard costs, updating Bill of Materials, reporting on variances.
- Strong experience with Excel (pivot tables, v look-ups, etc.) and Microsoft Office required.
- Experience remediating and integrating IT systems.
- Experience with integrating add-on acquisitions.
- Strong communication skills—both written and oral.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting.
- CPA is a plus.
